About Your Guest
Hakeem Rahim, Ed.M, M.A. had the honor of being the first African-American male valedictorian in his high school’s history. He graduated with a BA in psychology from Harvard University, and dual masters from Columbia University’s Teachers College. In 2012, Hakeem began openly sharing his journey with mental illness. Since then he has testified in front of the House of Representatives and the Senate, been featured in USA Today and has shared his journey with nearly 100,000 college, high school and middle school students. He has work with organizations such as Google, LinkedIn, NY Life and HSN/QVC. He is a TEDx speaker, author and recorded spoken word artist, and the founder and CEO of Live Breathe, LLC, a company dedicated to empowering people to speak with their authentic voice.
